R³ Devotional - Day 335

R³ Devotional - Day 335 - 1 Corinthians 9

By: Anderson Baptist Church

Real-Life Principle (from 1 Corinthians 9:19–23)
Servant-hearted flexibility for the gospel: Paul says, “I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.” The principle is that we willingly adjust our preferences, comfort, and even rights to reach others with Christ.

Relevant Applications
  • For Teens: Be willing to step into someone else’s world—listen to their music, join their sport, or learn their slang—not to fit in, but to show Christ’s love.

  • For Families: Practice hospitality that helps others in —invite neighbors over even if it means adjusting your routine or menu.

  • For Leaders: Shape ministry not around personal comfort but around what helps others hear and see the gospel clearly.

Ready Action Steps
  1. Daily Declaration: Begin with this phrase: “I lay down my rights so I can lift up Christ.”
  2. Ask God to show you one person today you can serve by adjusting your comfort zone.
  3. Do one small act of “becoming all things”—sit with someone different at lunch, greet in their language, or join their interest.
  4. Use a pair of running shoes as a reminder—like Paul’s race imagery in 1 Cor 9:24-27, we run with discipline, adjusting stride to finish well.
