R³ Devotional - Day 44
R³ Devotional - Day 44 from Leviticus 1-4
By: Carole Rienhart
Many people see Leviticus as boring rituals and sacrifices but these are wonderful pictures drawn by the hand of God.
The Burnt Offering (devotion)
This offering was given every morning & evening. A sign of surrender and devotion to God.
Our souls are restless. We will never find rest until we devote ourselves to God. We should be a people who offer our devotion to God every morning and evening.
The Grain Offering (worship)
Omitted - honey (goodness) and yeast (ego)
God doesn't want our humaneness.
Included - oil (Holy Spirit), incense (aroma, pleasing to The Lord), and salt (preservative)
Being led by the Holy Spirit, doing the good works that God made for us to walk in, being salt and light to a lost world, this is our worship.
The Peace Offering (fellowship)
One restriction of the peace offering was that they weren't allowed to eat the fat. The fat represents the richness of god.
We try to get peace by changing our circumstances, anesthetizing our pain, or blaming other people and sometimes even God. Jesus said He came to bring peace but not as the world gives peace.
All the richness of life comes from God. Honor that fellowship.
The Sin Offering (confession)
The blood of the sin offering had to be sprinkled seven times before the Lord.
As we read Leviticus 4:27–28, it causes us to realize that we have blind spots in our lives.
We need to ask God to show us where we may be sinning, and don’t even realize it.
