R³ Devotional - Day 60
R³ Devotional - Day 60 from Psalm Chapter 90
By: Jose Maldonado
Psalm 90, attributed to Moses, is a profound meditation on God's eternity and humanity's fleeting existence.
God's Eternity:
This psalm emphasizes God's timeless nature. He is "from everlasting to everlasting" (Psalm 90:2). This highlights the contrast between God's unchanging presence and the brevity of human life.
The Brevity of Human Life:
Notice how it portrays the shortness and fragility of human existence. Life is likened to a passing dream or withering grass. This should encourage, motivate, and reflect on how we use our time…time is valuable, use it wisely.
God's Wrath and Human Sinfulness:
God's righteous anger against sin is portrayed. It reminds us that human suffering and mortality are connected to human iniquity. This theme brings a sense of soberness. It is not the case for all suffering but it is for some.
Seeking God's Wisdom and Favor:
There is a plea for God to "teach us to number our days" (Psalm 90:12) and to grant His favor. This reflects a desire for wisdom, purpose, and fulfillment in the limited time we have.
In reading this Psalm I pray you..
Reflect and adjust your list of priorities.
Reflect and adjust how you use the time you have left on earth. (We do not really know).
Throw yourself at God's mercy.
Seek wisdom from God.
Be Real with yourself and others.
Be Relevant to your family, community, and church.
Be Ready on mission to whatever the Lord asks of you.
