R³ Devotional - Day 16

R³ Devotional - Day 16 from Genesis 15:1-6

By: Will Borski

New International Version
The LORD’s Covenant With Abram

After this, the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision:                                                                       “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield,[a]  your very great reward.[b]” 2 But Abram said, “Sovereign LORD, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit[c] my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?” 3 And Abram said, “You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir.” 4 Then the word of the LORD came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir.” 5 He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring[d] be.” 6 Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness.
The scripture says that God is a sovereign Lord. His words are true. We tend to be like Abram not fully trusting God and still skeptical until God shows us the stars in the sky. We have to trust God with the full picture. He has to be the one to tie up the loose ends. We need to trust Him with the uncertainty in our life. We aren’t meant to handle everything alone. In my life when I have a lack of faith I have to know that God is trustworthy in the plan He has for me and my family. He will get me through my day-to-day. Sometimes we forget that God has this. We need not to worry. We need to be still and wait for God to guide us and bless us as only He can in His perfect timing. When we allow God’s word to resonate in our hearts we better understand His will for us. There are times when we praise God in the hallway while we’re waiting on His timing. Sometimes we have one foot in another door because we are afraid to wait on him. I would hope to always be in the hallway praising Him while prayerfully waiting to walk through whatever door He opens for me. I’d like to take His hand and let Him guide me through my life. Without Him I am nothing, So when God shows you the stars what will you do? Will you stay in the hallway wavering or praying? When the door is open will you walk through it with the Lord?
