R³ Devotional - Day 58
R³ Devotional - Day 58 from Numbers Chapters 8-10
By: Shawna Cohn
Numbers 8 is a chapter on the completion of the Tabernacle and precision, obedience, and dedication. Portraying God’s
specific instructions to Moses about the lamp stand in the tabernacle and the purification of the levites. Focusing on the importance of following God’s instructions and consecration for service. An invitation to reflect on how we can better serve God.
Numbers 9 describes the Israelites’ second Passover celebration in the wilderness. Reminding us that obedience in God, even in difficult seasons, leads to blessings. The Israelites celebrated Passover despite the wilderness environment. The cloud is a symbol of God’s presence and guidance.
In Numbers 10, the Israelites journey from the wilderness of Sinai to the wilderness of Paran. Two silver trumpets for summoning the congregation and for breaking camp. If both trumpets were blown together, all the people would gather at the Tabernacle. The priests were tasked with blowing the trumpets. The trumpets were a continual reminder of God’s presence and help. The Israelite camp moved following the cloud, setting up camp as instructed by the Lord. The families of the Levites transported the tabernacle.

Real: Life Principles
- The Israelites received instructions on how they were to camp and travel and they immediately responded . Through this, we see great examples of putting instruction into action.
- Every detail matters to God
- Real trust in God, is understanding that he knows the end from the beginning. God, we don’t know how things will play out, but I trust you. Just as in the Israelites journey, directed by the cloud, this illustrates the Israelites faithfulness, trust and dependence in following God’s lead, his timing, and direction.
Relevant: life applications
- Faith requires Action. With no delay and no excuses the Israelites took God’s word and immediately put them into action.
- Prioritize God’s word, trusting that where he is calling you is leading you on the right path
Ready: Action step
Personally, as I reflect, I ask myself, “What would it look like if l I always put God’s word into immediate action”?
Not saying, I will try. Especially when it comes to the more difficult things for me. Or say, “When I have time, or if only “insert excuse”

- Instead, what if, when I studied something, asking how can I intentionally make a plan to live it out?
- God is a God of peace not confusion, if you want to hear him clearer, spend time with him.
- How can you trust and follow God’s commands and leadership, even when we are faced with obstacles?
- Do we go to God for direction before we move, seeking guidance before we choose a path?
