R³ Devotional - Day 10
R³ Devotional - Day 10 from Job Chapter 24 – 28
By: Dayna Nichols
In Job 24-28, Job continues to question why the world is not fair. Have you ever found yourself with those same thoughts tumbling through your head? Do you question why God does not seemingly intervene to protect the innocent or punish apparent evil? This passage also gives us insight into God’s wisdom as Job invites us to see the peace that is available when you trust God’s ways instead of relying on human reasoning.
This passage in Job is real, and relevant, and gives each of us the life actions steps so we are ready to point people to Christ. Job is a real man lamenting the injustice he sees in the world. He asks the same questions we do today. His friends answer. Bildad speaks of God’s greatness and justice and points out the stark contrast between God’s holiness and our human sinfulness. As the interaction continues through the next few chapters, Job responds. He speaks to the vastness of God’s power and sovereignty. Job proclaims God’s greatness in creation showing that His wisdom is hard for our human minds to comprehend. Job defends himself and declares he has not been wicked like those who oppress others. He shares how God’s justice will eventually prevail. Job recognizes true wisdom is found only by walking in God’s ways.
Struggles are not new. They have been around since Bible times. We need to maintain our faith in God’s ultimate justice, even when it is not immediately visible. God’s motives are pure. Our need for redemption is real, and no human can earn their way to righteousness apart from a personal relationship with Christ. Comfort during hardship is found in trusting God’s supreme power. We need to trust that He is in control …especially when life seems chaotic or unjust. Pray for an eternal perspective. Trust God’s wisdom even when you cannot see His ways.
As you reflect on these verses, look for ways to offer hope, redemption, and wisdom found in these teachings to share with those who cross your path this week. We all need to hear about God’s justice and see our need for personal repentance so that we may rest in the sovereignty of God during difficult times. It is there we will find peace and gain true understanding.
