R³ Devotional - Day 91 Judges Chapter 6
By: Jose Maldonado
Judges 6 presents a powerful narrative centered around Gideon, an unlikely man called to be used by God to deliver Israel from the oppressive Midianites.
Real: Life Principles
- God calls some who seem inadequate. Gideon initially expresses feelings of inadequacy and unworthiness. "My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family" (Judges 6:15).
- God often chooses those who feel weak to demonstrate His strength. He sees potential where we see limitations.
- Seek divine confirmation, especially when facing significant decisions: Gideon seeks signs from God to confirm His calling (Judges 6:17, 36-40).
- Obedience to God's Commands is essential, even when it is difficult or unpopular. Gideon is commanded to tear down his father's altar to Baal (Judges 6:25-27).
- God provides the necessary resources and power to accomplish His purposes. God promises to be with Gideon and deliver Israel (Judges 6:16).
- God requires his people to remove all Idolatry from their lives. Idolatry can take many forms, and does not always present itself in the form of a physical statue. It can be hard to remove idolatry from family.
- We should not disqualify ourselves from serving God because of perceived weaknesses. God's power is made perfect in weakness.
- While we should not constantly demand signs, it's wise to seek God's guidance through prayer, scripture, and wise counsel.
- We must prioritize obedience to God over human opinions or cultural pressures.
- We should trust in God's provision and rely on His strength, not our own.
- We must examine our lives and remove any idols that hinder our relationship with God.
- Get out of your comfort zone and stop making excuses. Who God calls he equips.
- If God gives you clear instruction …DO it!
- Get rid of your idols!
- Trust HIM!!!
