R³ Devotional - Day 65
R³ Devotional - Day 65 from Numbers Chapters 26-27
By: Glenn Hood
In Numbers 26 we encounter a detailed record of Israel’s tribes and families. God commands a new census of those who are able to fight in battle, as the Israelites are about to enter the Promised Land. The book of numbers may seem tedious to read, but they reveal an important truth: God knows each person by name, and He has a plan for every individual. Each family, each person has a place in His kingdom.
The inheritance of the land, discussed in Numbers 27. God’s justice shines through as He addresses an important case involving the daughters of Zelophehad, who had no brothers. In a society where inheritance was typically passed to male heirs, these women boldly approached Moses to ask for their father’s inheritance. God responds with grace, granting them the inheritance, showing his justice.
God's justice is not just about fairness in the physical world; it is also about ensuring that His promises are fulfilled. Just as the inheritance was divided fairly among the people, God is faithful to give each of His children. We, too, have an inheritance—an inheritance that is not based on our earthly lineage but on the grace of God through Jesus Christ.
But God's provision is not just about securing the future. The appointment of Joshua son of Nun successor in Numbers 27:18-23 is a beautiful reminder that God continues His work even when human leaders pass on. Joshua's calling was clear, and he was filled with God's Spirit to lead the people into the Promised Land. This moment shows us that God equips the ones He calls and He doesn't leave His people without direction or leadership.
How this works in our life’s today: Real people committed to Christ, Relevant to those who need Christ, Ready to on mission for Christ.

Let’s ask ourselves a few questions:
- Am I trusting God with my future inheritance? Just as God was faithful to the Israelites in giving them the land, we can trust that He will provide for us in His time and according to His will.
- Do I believe that I have a part in God’s plan? Like the Israelites, we are called to step into the role God has for us. No matter how small or big our role seems, we are an essential part of His Kingdom.
- Am I actively seeking God’s justice? In our world, where things may seem unfair at times, God calls us to seek His justice. We are invited to approach God with confidence, knowing He will act in fairness and grace.
- Am I willing to follow God’s appointed leaders? Just as Joshua was called to lead the Israelites, God places leaders in our lives to guide and encourage us in the faith. Are we willing to follow the guidance of those who are filled with God's Spirit?
