R³ Devotional - Day 8

R³ Devotional - Day 8 from Job Chapter 17-20

Real: Life Principles: What truths or principles are found?

  • Job is feeling like his days on earth are done.  He feels defeated. He feels that his glory days are over.  But, he still put his hope and faith in God.  Even after everything he has gone through, he knows God will do justice.

  • Bildad continues blaming Job that his troubles were caused by his sins.  Bildad accuses Job of not even knowing God.  We know in Job 1:8 God says, "Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.”

  • Job feels abandoned by his friends, family, and God. He felt isolated from everything and everyone but even during the darkest times, Job knows His Redeemer lives! His spirit and flesh might be in ruins but he has hope and faith that he will be restored and will see his Lord with his own eyes.  Job knows his Redeemer will vindicate him. Job warns his friends that they should fear the sword. Final judgement will come to all.
Real life Applications: How can this be applied?

  • We are on this side of Christ and we get to see that God sent His one and only Son to rescue us.  Our most glorious days on earth will not even compare to the days to come in Heaven with our Lord. We get to live knowing we have a Savior and he will rescue us during our distress.  We need to always keep our eyes on our Creator.

  • We can't judge others by their sins and think they don't know Jesus. God is the only one that knows our true heart. John 7:24 Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.”

  • Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?  Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ and behold, the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. Matthew 7:3-5.
Ready Life Actions: What will your next action steps be?

  • God is on the mountains and the valleys.  While you might be on the mountain, you might have someone around you who is in the valley.  Show compassion and love towards others.  Sit and listen before you talk.

  • God wants us to comfort others

  • Henry Jowett wrote, “God does not comfort us to make us comfortable, but to make us comforters. God’s comfort is never given: is it always loaned. God expects us to share it with others.”

  • Praise and give thanks that Our Redeemer Lives!

  • When you get a chance, listen to Redeemer - Nicole C.Mullen
