R³ Devotional - Day 328
R³ Devotional - Day 328 - Galatians 1
By: Anderson Baptist Church
Paul opens this letter to the Galatians, immediately asserting his authority as an apostle of Christ and reinforcing that the authority comes directly from God and not human appointment. The Galatians at the time were pulling away from the gospel and beginning to accept a corrupted version being spread by false teachers. He is urgently conveying to the people to treat the false teachers as accursed. He defends the Divine origin of the gospel he preaches by explaining how it was given to him through divine revelation, not taught by other people. He does this by sharing his own testimony about his life before being called by grace to reveal Christ to the Gentiles and showing how that transformation was an example of God's glory.
Real life principals:
Know what you believe - Be grounded in truth like Paul. He urged the people not to drift towards a distorted message. Don't let pressure, trends or persuasive voices pull you away from what you know is right.
Your past doesn't disqualify you - Paul is a perfect example of someone who was as far away from God as possible. He actively killed Jesus’ followers but God used him to spread his message far and wide.
Relevant:
Be Discerning - even impressive-sounding messages can be false. Evaluate teachings, advice, and influences through the lens of scripture before accepting them.
Share your story - Paul's transformation became a testimony. Your struggles, victories, and lessons learned can be an inspiration to someone else.
Ready Action Steps:
Clarify your core values - Write down your non-negotiable core values as a Christian, because knowing your values helps you recognize when something is a false gospel.
Prayer
Lord, thank you for the truth of the gospel. Pure, powerful, and rooted in your grace. Help me hold firmly to what is true and never be swayed by voices that distort or distract. Strengthen my heart so that I seek your approval above the approval of people. Give me courage to stand for what is right, even when it is unpopular or costly. Teach me to recognize counterfeit messages and to discern wisely the influences around me. Anchor me so deeply in your word so that I will not drift from you. Use my story to encourage others. Allow people to see your work in my life and give glory to you.
In Jesus Name
Amen
