R³ Devotional - Day 302

R³ Devotional - Day 302 -John 11

By: Anderson Baptist Church

In John 11, we witness Jesus intentionally delaying his arrival in Bethany, allowing Lazarus to die. This was not due to a lack of compassion, but to demonstrate God's glory through a powerful miracle. When Jesus finally arrived, he engaged with Martha and Mary, comforting them and proclaiming, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die." He then commanded Lazarus to come out of the tomb, raising him from the dead.

This narrative assures us that death is not the final word. For those who believe in Jesus, there is a promise of eternal life.

Real Life Principle:
Jesus has power over death and offers hope beyond the grave.

Relevant Application:
Even in the face of immense grief and loss, we can find comfort and hope in Jesus's power over death. It also reminds us that God's timing may not always align with ours, but His ultimate purpose is always good and for His glory.

Ready Action Steps:
  • Reflect on Personal Losses: Take time to recall any significant losses you've experienced. How did you cope? Where did you place your hope? Consider how the truth of Jesus's power over death might offer a different perspective or renewed comfort.

  • Deepen Your Understanding of Resurrection Hope: Read and meditate on other passages in the Bible that speak about resurrection and eternal life (e.g., 1 Corinthians 15, Revelation 21:1-4). Seek to internalize the profound hope offered through Jesus.

  • Share Your Hope (When Appropriate): If you know someone who is grieving or struggling with the concept of death, consider how you might gently share the hope found in Jesus, either through your words or simply by offering compassionate presence.
