R³ Devotional - Day 300

R³ Devotional - Day 300 - Luke 14

By: Anderson Baptist Church

True exaltation comes through genuine humility.
Jesus teaches those invited to a wedding feast not to seek the places of honor, but to take the lowest seat. The principle is:

Real Life Principle:
When we intentionally humble ourselves and put the interests of others before our own desire for status or recognition, we create space for true honor and exaltation from God or respected individuals. Conversely, self-promotion leads to humiliation.

Relevant Application:
This applies directly to how we participate in group settings, projects, or community service. Instead of always aiming for the lead role, the spotlight, or the credit for a success, choose to take a supporting, often overlooked role.
At work or on a volunteer team, when a task needs doing, a humble person chooses the unglamorous job (e.g., taking notes, cleaning up, compiling data) instead of vying for the high-profile presentation or leadership role. They serve without needing public praise.

Ready Action Step:
The next time you are in a group, at an event, or starting a new project, deliberately choose the least desirable or most servant-oriented task that needs to be done.
In your next meeting or gathering, instead of making sure your voice is heard first or taking the most visible role, actively look for and volunteer for the task that everyone else seems to be avoiding, such as setting up chairs, cleaning the space, or doing the tedious organizational work. Do it with a good attitude and without calling attention to your sacrifice.
