R³ Devotional - Day 299

R³ Devotional - Day 299 - Luke 12

By: Anderson Baptist Church

Accountability for What You Have Been Given
“From everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required; and from the one to whom much has been entrusted, even more will be demanded.” (Luke 12:48, NIV)

Real Life Principle:
This principle, often paraphrased as "With great privilege comes great responsibility," follows Jesus' parable about servants awaiting their master's return. The focus shifts from what you own (the rich fool's mistake) to what you are given to manage (the steward's duty).

Relevant Application:
Every resource, gift, and opportunity in your life—your time, your talents, your spiritual insight, your money, your influence—is not a possession but an investment entrusted to you by God. Your spiritual maturity is measured by your faithfulness in using those gifts for His purposes.

  •  Ask yourself today: What "much" has God entrusted to me that I am currently hoarding, neglecting, or using only for myself? (e.g., a specific spiritual gift, spare time, specialized knowledge, or financial surplus).

Ready Action Step:
Choose one area of "much" you have been given and intentionally use it to serve God or your neighbor this week. Stop viewing your blessings as rewards to consume and start seeing them as tools for the Kingdom. Your ultimate accountability is not based on your success, but on your faithful effort with what you were given.
