R³ Devotional - Day 195

R³ Devotional - Day 195

By: Anderson Baptist Church

The chapter emphasizes God’s intolerance of persistent injustice, idolatry, and moral corruption. Verses 3–5 describe God “coming down” to judge Samaria and Jerusalem for their sins, highlighting the principle that divine justice holds nations and individuals accountable for violating God’s moral standards.

The imagery of God “treading down the high places” and mountains melting under Him (v. 3–4) underscores His supreme authority over creation and history.

Micah’s role as a prophet is to warn the people of impending judgment. The sins listed, such as idolatry and social injustice (v. 5), reflect the people’s failure to uphold their covenant with God, particularly in their treatment of the vulnerable.

While Samaria faces destruction, Judah is also warned (v. 9), showing that God’s judgment applies universally to all who stray from His ways.
