R³ Devotional - Day 157 - Proverbs Chapter 10-12

Great Illustration:
If you have ever walked down a dirt road after a rain, you know there is two ways to go, the high road or the muddy road. Proverbs chapters 10 through 12 are just like that—two paths laid out: the way of the righteous and the way of the wicked. One leads to life and blessing. The other? Trouble and destruction.
Solomon lays it out plain. The righteous speak truth, bring peace, and walk in integrity. The wicked lie, stir up trouble, and follow foolishness. And in the middle of it all is Proverbs 10:12—a verse that hits the heart of it: “hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs”.
That is not just a good memory verse. That is a way of living.
Hatred starts small. A grudge here, a harsh word there, a little gossip in the church meeting. Next thing you know, you're stirring up people, like a pot of stew. We should be loving godly, Christ-centered love, handle it with grace, truth, and humility.
In chapter 11, we are reminded that “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life and the one who is wise saves lives” (v. 30). That means when we walk in righteousness, people around us are refreshed. “The wicked live like dried-up wood ready to crack under pressure, no fruit, no grace.”
Then chapter 12 reminds us that “the way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice.” (v. 15). The world tells us to follow our heart. God says, follow His Word.
Application:
You cannot walk both roads. You are either sowing peace or stirring up strife. And in this noisy, angry, divided world, the church does not need louder opinions we need deeper love. The kind of love that forgives. The kind that listens. The kind that covers all sins.
That means we do not just quote Proverbs—we live it. Let your life reflect the wisdom of God, not the wrath of man.
