R³ Devotional - Day 132

R³ Devotional - Day 132 Psalms 69

By: Doug Wallace

In the Psalm 69 we find David pleading to God to save him from his many enemies and those who would destroy him and the people of Isreal. He feels as if he is drowning under the weight of his many troubles and conflicts. He is also asking God to bring his wrath down on his enemies and punish them in the worst way.

David says in verse 29: I am afflicted and in pain; let your salvation, O God, lift me up.

Then is verse 30 he says: I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify him with thanksgiving.

Was David trying to make a deal with God? I don’t think so. David was a true believer in God and confessed his many faults and transgressions and asked for forgiveness for his sins. David praised God and gave glory to him always.

Real Life Principle:
How many of us have tried to make a deal with God. It’s an easy trap to fall into. You might say: God if you will just let me get this deal or heal this person I’ll go church every Sunday or I’ll donate lots of money to the church.
God does not make deals, He answers prayers and we have to have faith that He is doing what’s best for all of us.

Relevant Life Application:
How many times have you felt as if the world was against you? That your problems were overwhelming and you could not find a way out. I’ve been there and I found a way. That way is Jesus Christ. When I opened myself up to Christ and excepted Him into my heart I saw that all my problems were just worldly things and that they would pass, but God is forever.

Real Action Steps:
Pray to God. Go to church and worship with your friends, your family and your church members. Praise God and give glory to him. You will find that life isn’t that hard after all.
