R³ Devotional - Day 109

R³ Devotional - Day 109 Psalm 18

By: Becky Childress

Who you gonna call? I am a child of the 80’s, so my immediate answer is … “GHOSTBUSTERS!!” Not today though…today we are reminded in Psalm 18 that we are to call upon the Lord! He is the one that can save you from your enemies. He is the one that is mighty, powerful, and has the authority to rule over things on Earth, as He does in heaven.

Real: Life principles- What truths or principles are found in this passage?

This chapter shows us how David felt after he had been delivered from the hand of his enemies and from the hand of Saul.

1-3 I love you, Lord, My strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer.  My God, My mountain where I seek refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I was saved from my enemies.

God had just delivered David from a terrible situation and he (David) had just been crowned the King. From a shepherd boy to the ruler of a nation- God did that. God is the one you can turn to when your challenges seem too large to conquer. God has a plan for your life, as he did for David’s.

Relevant: Life Applications- How can this be applied?

We all will face challenges, trials, feel that people are against us, lose hope…this is part of the human condition. The things we face are not meant to be faced alone. As believers, God is waiting to be included in “our” plans. He wants to deliver you, as only He has the power and authority to do!

Ready: Life Actions- How will you apply this?

Pray that God will show you areas where He can deliver you. Small things…BIG things.  He is the key to overcoming them. Once He gives you this victory, praise him openly as David did. Thank Him for delivering you!
