Ephesians 4:1-16 is a passage in which the Apostle Paul urges believers to live a life worthy of their calling, emphasizing unity and maturity within the body of Christ. The section begins with a call to humility, gentleness, patience, and love, encouraging Christians to maintain unity through the bond of peace. Paul highlights the oneness of the Spirit, faith, baptism, and God, underscoring the importance of unity among believers. He then discusses the diverse gifts given by Christ to His followers, which include roles like apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers. These gifts are intended to equip the saints for service and to build up the body of Christ until all reach unity in faith and knowledge, attaining spiritual maturity. Paul warns against being swayed by false teachings and encourages speaking the truth in love as a means to grow in every way into Christ, who is the head. The passage concludes with an image of the church as a body, where each part works together, supported by love, to ensure the growth and strengthening of the whole community.

1. Calling and Unity: Verse 1 urges believers to live a life worthy of their calling. What does this look like in your daily life? How can we as a church encourage each other to live out our callings?

2. Humility, gentleness, patience and bearing with one another.: Verse 2 How do these qualities strengthen our unity as a church? Can you share a time when practicing humility or patience made a difference in a relationship or situation?

3. One Body: Verses 4-6 talk about the unity of the Spirit and the oneness of the body. How can we better reflect this oneness in our church community?

4. Gifts of Christ: In verses 7-12, Paul speaks about the gifts Christ gave to the church. What spiritual gifts do you feel you have been given, and how are you using them to serve the church and build up the body of Christ?

5. Maturity: Verse 13 mentions growing into maturity in the fullness of Christ. What does spiritual maturity mean to you? What steps can we take to continue growing in our faith?

6. Speaking the Truth in Love: Verse 15 talks about speaking the truth in love. How can we practice this in our church and personal relationships? Why is it important to balance truth with love?

7. Every Part Working Together: Verse 16 emphasizes the importance of each part of the body working properly. What role do you play in the church, and how can we ensure that every member feels valued and contributes to the work of the church?
