R³ Devotional - Day 224

R³ Devotional - Day 224 - Jeremiah Chapter 18

By: Anderson Baptist Church

Jeremiah 18 is a rich and compelling chapter centered around the metaphor of the potter and the clay. It offers profound spiritual insights and practical applications for personal growth, discipleship, and community transformation.

Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel” (v.6).

Real, Relevant, Ready.
God has full authority to shape individuals and nations according to His purpose.
Our lives are not random—they are being intentionally molded.
If a nation or person turns from evil, God may relent from judgment (v.8).
Repentance is not just a moral reset—it’s a spiritual realignment with divine purpose.
The clay must remain pliable. Hardened hearts resist God’s shaping.
Israel’s refusal to listen led to spiritual ruin (v.12–15).
Even when rebellion is rampant, God still calls His people back (v.11).
His discipline is redemptive, not punitive.
Jeremiah’s role reminds us to speak truth even when unpopular.
Discipleship includes courage to confront and comfort.
The Potter doesn’t discard marred vessels—He remakes them.

Personal Reflection

  • Am I resisting God’s shaping in any area of my life?
  • Do I trust the Potter even when the process is painful?

Church Reflection

  • Is my church community open to being reshaped for greater impact?
  • Are we modeling repentance and restoration in our membership?
