R³ Devotional - Day 187

R³ Devotional - Day 187 - 2 Chronicles 25:2

By: Anderson Baptist Church

“He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, but not wholeheartedly.”
  • King Amaziah started off well. He followed God’s laws and made some good decisions early in his reign. He even listened to a prophet and trusted God for victory in battle. But after his success, things changed.

  • Instead of thanking God, he brought back the idols of the enemy he defeated and began worshiping them. When a prophet warned him, he refused to listen. His pride took over, and his life ended in defeat and destruction.

  • The problem was not that Amaziah never did good things—it was that his heart was divided.
Truth for Today

  • Sometimes we do what’s “right,” but we are not fully committed. We say the right things, go to church, maybe read our Bible, but are we doing it out of love, or just out of habit?

  • God does not just want actions; He wants our whole heart.

  • Matthew 22:37“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”

  • James 1:8“A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.”

When we follow God halfway, we set ourselves up for confusion, compromise, and regret.
Think about these bullet points:

  • Am I truly giving God my full attention and trust?
  • Is there an area of my life I’m holding back from Him?
  • Do I listen when God corrects me?

These questions are not always easy. They can bring up hard truths. Ask God to give you the courage and understanding you need to work through these points. He is patient and loving and He will help you grow.
