R³ Devotional - Day 165

Psalm 136 is a litany of praise and thanks to God for all of his many wonders. From the creation of the world to the freeing of the Jewish people from the Egyptians and to the aid he gave them in overcoming  their enemies as they traveled into the promised land.
  Verse 26, the last verse, sums it up.

Give thanks to the God of heaven, for his steadfast love endures forever.

Real:

   We know that the Lord’s love for us is endless and boundless, for he gave us his only begotten son to teach us how to live a life that is pleasing to God, and who died on the cross for us so that we may be cleansed of our sins. There can be no greater symbol of His love than this.

Relevant:

   The people in biblical times dealt with the same problems that we endure today. They worked to support their families, they had to deal with corrupt leaders and government officials, and they struggled with temptation. The world has changed greatly in the last 2000 years, but humankind has not. We still strive for the same goals and suffer the same weaknesses.

Ready:

   So, how can we do better in life? I give you Proverbs 3:5-6.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” (NIV). Goals worth pursuing are found in submission to God's will.
