R³ Devotional - Day 164

R³ Devotional - Day 164 - 2 Chronicles Chapter 5

By: Carole Rinehart

We just were in 1 Kings 8 which was a pivotal chapter. The dedication of the temple. Solomon's prayer for us to be in a relationship with God and prayerful with God at all times in all aspects of our lives.

Now in 2nd Chronicles 5. It's the placing of the ark in the temple. The ark was a symbol of God's rule and authority. And God's glory filled the Temple as a cloud showing His acceptance.

The priests couldn't even carry out their duties because of the cloud - the glory of God! - that filled the Temple. It was overwhelming and should be for us as well.

It's difficult to define the glory of God.
But this is the cloud from which God met with Moses in Exodus. The cloud of Ezekiel’s vision. The cloud that overshadowed Mary in Luke. The cloud that received Jesus into heaven in Acts.
Now, we’re the place where the glory of God dwells. That thought alone should overwhelm us.

The Israelites sacrificed so many animals that they could not be counted. They celebrated for 7 days for the Feast of the Tabernacles. It was an extravagant event, as it should be even for us today.

Let’s be extravagant, let's praise God together, for his goodness and his steadfast love, and pray that he would use our lives today, to make his glory known in the world around us.

Blessings,
Carole
