R³ Devotional - Day 286
R³ Devotional - Day 286 - Luke 11
By: Anderson Baptist Church
There must have been something special about watching Jesus pray that made the apostles want to learn how to pray as Jesus prayed.
The disciples saw Jesus heal people, turn water into wine, among other miracles. But never asked to learn those things, only “teach us to pray”.
Earthly fathers are not perfectly good. They’re not perfectly wise. God is.
When we ask for strength, Jesus doesn’t just give us strength. He gives us the Holy Spirit, who is omnipotent. When we ask for peace, he gives us the spirit of peace. No matter what we ask for, he doesn’t just give us gifts. He gives us himself. He gives us the greatest gift, the Holy Spirit to dwell in us, to fill us, to lead us, to guide us.
How awesome that God gives us himself when we ask.

The scriptures here turn to Spiritual Warfare.
Jesus' miracles, like casting out a mute demon-possessed man, are evidence of God's power, "the finger of God".
Jesus then states, "Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters".
When I teach littles, I talk about being on God's team or Satan’s team.
THERE IS NO MIDDLE GROUND.
Luke ends the chapter with the “Sign of Jonah”.
The people in Jesus' time were given a clear demonstration of God's kingdom, but they desired more signs. Their unbelief was not unfortunate; they chose not to believe and demanded further signs.
We need to choose to believe what the evidence clearly shows. Christ is risen from the grave.
Real
God is here with us.
Relevant
No middle ground. We are either gathering with God or scattering.
Ready
Christ is risen from the grave. Believe and share this good news.
