R³ Devotional - Day 283

R³ Devotional - Day 283 - Matthew 7

By: Anderson Baptist Church

Real Life Principle: Discernment with Humility

Jesus begins the chapter with a warning: “Do not judge, or you too will be judged.” (v.1). But He doesn’t call us to abandon discernment—He calls us to exercise it with humility. Before correcting others, we must examine our own hearts.

Jesus isn’t saying we should ignore sin or truth—He’s teaching us to examine our own hearts first. Before we correct others, we must deal with the “log” in our own eye.

Relevant Life Application:

Let’s be a church that speaks truth with grace.

Before we point out someone’s fault, let’s ask God to search our own hearts.

Correction should come from love, not pride.

Real Life Principle: Obedience Builds Endurance

Jesus closes the chapter with the parable of the wise and foolish builders (vv.24–27). The difference isn’t in what they heard—it’s in what they did. Storms come to both, but only the obedient stand firm. Hearing is not enough—obedience is what builds spiritual endurance.

Relevant Life Application:

Let’s be doers of the Word, not just hearers.

In our homes, ministries, and relationships—let’s build on the rock of obedience.

When trials come, our faith will hold because it’s anchored in Christ.

? Closing Prayer:

Lord Jesus, help me lead with humility and build with obedience. May Your Word shape my heart, my ministry, and my relationships. Let discernment be guided by grace, and let every storm reveal the strength of Your foundation in me. May our lives be built on the rock, and may our unity reflect Your grace. Amen.
