R³ Devotional - Day 279

R³ Devotional - Day 279 - John 2

By: Anderson Baptist Church

John 2:1–11 — The wedding at Cana, John 2:13–22 — The cleansing of the temple

Jesus Transforms What We Surrender
"Fill the jars with water." So they filled them to the brim. — John 2:7

Real-Life Principle:
When we offer Jesus what we have—even if it seems ordinary—He can transform it into something extraordinary for His glory.

Relevant Life Application:
In ministry: Encourage leaders and volunteers to bring their “water”—their time, gifts, and willingness. Jesus does the transforming.

In personal life: Don’t wait for perfect conditions to serve or obey. Offer what you have now, and trust God to multiply it.

In church culture: Celebrate testimonies of transformation—how God turned brokenness into beauty, scarcity into abundance, ordinary in extraordinary.

True Worship Requires Cleansing
"Take these things away; do not make my Father's house a house of trade." — John 2:16

Real-Life Principle:
Jesus confronts anything that corrupts worship. He calls us to purity, reverence, and alignment with the Father’s heart.

Relevant Life Application:
In leadership: Regularly assess ministry practices—are they driven by mission or maintenance? Invite honest reflection and repentance.

In congregational life: Teach that worship is not just music or ritual, but a lifestyle of surrender. Create space for confession and renewal.

In outreach: Model integrity and authenticity. Let the church be known not for performance, but for presence—God’s presence.

Ready Action Steps and  Reflection
What “water” do I need to surrender to Jesus today?

Is there anything in my heart or ministry that needs cleansing for true worship?

Make a time of prayer, asking Jesus to transform and purify—so that the church may reflect His glory and passion.
