R³ Devotional - Day 274

R³ Devotional - Day 274 - John 1:1–14

By: Anderson Baptist Church

Scripture Focus: John 1:1–14
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us."

John opens his Gospel not with a manger, but with majesty. He takes us back to the beginning—not just of Jesus’ earthly life, but of creation itself. The Word (Logos) is eternal, divine, and personal. And this Word didn’t stay distant. He came near. He entered our brokenness. He became flesh.

This is the ultimate new beginning: God stepping into our story to rewrite it with grace.

Real-Life Principles
  • Jesus is the foundation of every new start. Whether you're just starting to help a ministry, rebuilding a relationship, or recovering—He is the beginning. Not just chronologically, but spiritually and practically.

  • God’s presence transforms ordinary places. “He dwelt among us” means He pitched His tent in our neighborhood. That means your home, your church, and your workplace can be holy ground.

  • Light always wins over darkness. John 1:5 reminds us that the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. That’s not just poetic—it’s a promise for every weary heart.

Relevant Application
  • Start your day with this thought: “Jesus, You are my beginning today.” Let that shape your decisions, your tone, your priorities.

  • Invite Christ into your life—your schedule, your conversations, your leadership. Don’t compartmentalize Him.

  • When facing discouragement, remember: the darkness cannot overcome the light. Speak that truth over your family, your church, your community.
